The cardiac charity SADS UK and the College of Paramedics have come together to present, 'Emergency First Responding; is it the future?' on the 4th May at Lifeconnections 2012. Presentations includes having lifesaving defibrillators in schools together with training, the role of Community First Responders, Public Access Defibrillators as well as London Ambulance Services work in their community. SADS UK is holding their Heart to Heart Conference to educate and inspire attendees who may come into contact with families and individuals living with inherited cardiac conditions or who may have been affected by a Sudden Arrhythmic Death (SAD). The many ways in which people can be identified and treated will be discussed by cardiologists. Health professionals working with families living with conditions will provide information about their work and patients will speak of their experiences.
Dr Andrew Lockey below will give an update with regard to how the BHF/Resuscitation Council (UK) initiative to put Emergency Life Support on the school curriculum is progressing.

National Lifesaver Defibrillator Awards Dinner - Royal College of Pathologists, 2 Carlton House Terrace, London, 22nd October 2011 Terry Blake speaks at the SADS UK annual National Lifesaver Defibrillator Awards 2010. Dr Jasmeet Soar, President of the Resuscitation Council at the time presents Awards.
SADS UK held the 1st International SADS Conference in 2002 at the Royal College of Physicians and hold annual national conferences every year.
The 1st International SADS Conference brought together eminent cardiologists, pathologists and geneticists to share research and updates from around the globe. Participants included Dr G Michael Vincent, Professor Bill McKenna, Dr Andrew Grace, Dr Elijah Behr, Professor A John Camm, Dr Carlo Napolitano, Dr Vince Paul, Professor Peter Schwartz, Dr Edward Rowland, Katherine Timothy, Dr Mary Sheppard, Pathologist, Alice Lara SADS Foundation, Pamela Husband and Anne Jolly, Founders of Canadian SADS and SADS UK respectively. This most valuable conference was a catalyst for a cascade of conferences debating sudden and unexpected premature death. SADS UK holds two conferences every year.
